The Michigan Corps Social Entrepreneurship Challenge will catalyze a movement of social entrepreneurs that are sustained by mentors, coaches, and one another. Through coaching and financial support, including $50,000 in cash prizes, The Challenge will advance new ideas and existing organizations that create and grow new solutions to persistent social problems. Individuals and teams will have until March 27 to submit an initial application. Applicants will then have immediate access to coaches and special events to support the preparation of their final submission before the May 20, 2013 deadline. A special Social Entrepreneurship Showcase and Pitch event will take place on June 18 at GLEQ's Entrepreneur Connect event in Lansing, MI. |

| The Plastic Pollution Coalition is thrilled to announce the international Think Beyond Plastic competition, an annual contest to challenge entrepreneurs to develop products or solutions that will measurably reduce plastic pollution. Eligible contestants will compete for a first prize investment of $50,000 for an existing business, and $10,000 investment for the most innovative business idea. Student Startup Madness (SSM) is an exciting nationwide tournament-style competition for college student digital media startups, culminating with the “Entrepreneurial Eight” national finals at SXSW Interactive. The competition is open to all student digital media startups from any college/university in the United States. SSM is a fun and exciting nationwide tournament offering college student startups the opportunity to “live the entrepreneurial dream”, compete against fellow student entrepreneurs, grab the attention of potential investors and leaders in the startup community, and build an elite professional network. Early admission application deadline is Friday, Oct. 19, 2012. Final application deadline is Friday, Nov. 2, 2012. |

Hosted by MPowered, 1000 Pitches is more than an annual entrepreneurial competition; it is a platform for University of Michigan students to let their ideas be heard. In this competition, students from all over campus submit simple video business pitches in any of nine categories, and the winner of each category is awarded $1000. Deadline to pitch is November 16, 2012.

Hosted by China Entrepreneur Network (CEN), China Business Challenge'12 (CBC'12) is a business model competition where students submit their most innovative, entrepreneurial solutions to social or environmental issues currently affecting China. Participants receive feedback from mentors, network with top-tier Venture Capitalists and Angel Investors from both China and Silicon Valley, and compete to win $30K in prizes. | NYC Next Idea |
The NYC Next Ideacompetition provides students the unique opportunity to access substantial funding and support to implement their business ideas in New York City. We are inviting teams of 2-5 participants to submit business plans for ideas that may be commercially viable in New York City. Additionally, we¹re expanding the competition this year to allow US-based foreign students to join with their American colleagues.The early deadline for business summaries is October 28th. The final deadline is November 9th. Six teams of finalists will win a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to New York City during the week of March 11th 2013 to participate in the final round of the Competition, which will be hosted at Columbia University. |
| Small Business Challenge |
The SMBChallenge gives the public the opportunity to decide which businesses deserve to be funded. In the first stage of the competition, which will last until October 31, 2012, anyone can register, nominate or vote for a company online. Each company that registers is required to make a pitch for how the Small Business Challenge℠ will help their business create more jobs. On October 31, 2012, 25 of the most voted companies will automatically become semifinalists. Another 25 will be selected by a panel of judges, based on their potential for growth and job creation. The semifinalists will then be interviewed and evaluated to pick out the top 10, from which the public will vote for the top 3. Businesses with less than 100 employees, as well as entrepreneurs with startup ideas, are eligible to participate. The first place will receive $25,000 in cash and advertising support, while the second and third place winners will be awarded $15,000 and $10,000, respectively. The winner will be announced on November 9, 2012. |

The 2012 NASA/NewSpace Business Plan Competition (“BPC2012”) is hosted by the Space Frontier Foundation at its annual NewSpace Conference being held this year at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley July 26-28, 2012. A maximum of 10 teams will be invited to compete for a $100,000 grand prize, and a $10,000 second prize. Teams will have the opportunity to meet and network with space industry executives, investors, and successful entrepreneurs who will be in attendance at the conference and serving as judges.
